As promised- WIP and completed Wolf
This is a bed and breakfast I photographed. It is a very interesting piece, but alot of work just even in the drawing.
Here is the finished wolf- a mixed media piece- acrylic and inks.
Following is something I ran across on a weightloss site I have joined. I asked permission to post it here- it is just too funny and too true!
The Real Enemy
In the beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth and populated the Earth with broccoli, cauliflower and spinach, green and yellow and red vegetables of all kinds, so Man and Woman would live long and healthy lives.
Then, using God’s great gifts, Satan created Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream and Krispy Crème Donuts. And Satan said, “You want chocolate with that?” And Man said “Yes!” and Woman said, “And as long as you’re at it, add some sprinkles.” And they gained 10 pounds. And Satan smiled.
And God created healthful yogurt that Woman might keep the figure that Man found so fair. And Satan brought forth white flour from the wheat, and sugar from the cane and combined them. And Woman went from size 6 to size 14.
So God said, “Try my fresh green salad.” And Satan presented Thousand-Island Dressing, buttery croutons and garlic toast on the side. And Man and Woman unfastened their belts following the repast.
God then said, “I have sent you heart healthy vegetables and olive oil in which to cook them.” And Satan brought forth deep fried fish and chicken-fried steak so big it needed its own platter. And Man gained more weight and his cholesterol went through the roof. God then created a light, fluffy white cake, named it “Angel Food Cake,” and said, “It is good.” Satan then created chocolate cake and named it “Devil’s Food.”
God then brought forth running shoes so that His children might lose those extra pounds. And Satan gave cable TV with a remote control so Man would not have to toil changing the channels. And Man and Woman laughed and cried before the flickering blue light and gained pounds.
Then God brought forth the potato, naturally low in fat and brimming with nutrition. And Satan peeled off the healthful skin and sliced the starchy center into chips and deep-fried them. And Man gained pounds.
God then gave lean beef so that Man might consume fewer calories and still satisfy his appetite. And Satan created McDonald’s and its 99-cent double cheeseburger. Then said. “You want fries with that?” And Man replied, “Yes! And super size them!” And Satan said, “It is good.” And Man went into cardiac arrest.
God sighed and created quadruple bypass surgery.
Then Satan created HMOs!

Oh, Carol! You really gave me a good laugh this morning with the "Real Enemy" piece! Thanks for that.
Wow, your wolf came out wonderful! I love it. I can see why you would think the B&B would be a lot of work! You are brave, it's looking good so far.
Yes, I laughed when I read it too. Just too funny! Thanks for checking out the wolf and B and B. I enjoyed doing the wolf, but that B and B I'm almost dreading!
Carol, this is too funny! And so true! In fact, I just bought a CD Player and case so I can go on long walks to please God, and also seasons 1 to 4 of Ghost Whisperer on DVD....I think we are all gaining pounds these days!
Oh, and your wolf is gorgeous! I find that architecture always requires a lot more detail in the drawing and underpainting stages. I think there is less room for error than when you are doing landscapes or animals. I always seem to do a lot of drawing for portraits too. Your piece is looking real good!
Thanks Deb. I've been gaining slowly over time- between age and then my back issues which have made a huge difference in my mobility and "speed" it's really made an impact. I don't want to get to a point of no return! So far, so good. Loosing slowly, steadily, and keeping to my "program" and resolutions. My Pooka is joining me- under much protest! She seems to think it is nothing short of abuse to have to eat less and go for that daily walk with me on the treadmill! :-)
your WIP looks wonderful already, can't wait to see it completed. Your wolf is outstanding, you have really captured his essence, well done!
Thanks so much Krista. I enjoyed doing him with the 2 different mediums.
