Iowa Farmscape

This is my first attempt from some of the photos I shot while on my Iowa jaunt with my aunt. I intend to give this to her as a memento of our time together and to say "thanks" for putting up with me. :-) She doesn't use computers, so this will stay a surprise until I give it to her- hopefully in Sept.
I redid this several times to get it more the way I wanted it. I hope I have the colors adjusted correctly- it's night and I can't see on the computer so may have to readjust tomorrow- if I have time!

I totally love this Carol, gorgeous colours - just perfect. What mediums did you use?

Thanks so much Karen. I very much want to learn to do landscapes- especially these from my midwestern roots.
This was done with acrylics. I plan to try some in casein as well.

Carol, it's great to see this large in the click-on for all of it's detail. It draws me in, and makes me feel like I'm 'in that world' and that's the sign of a great mini landscape.

Oh, my goodness Mona- I never knew you could do that!!! Wow, now I can't wait to see everyone's minis BIG!!! :-)
Thanks sooo much- I came to realize the landscape of my childhood is and has been disappearing- the rolling hills with cattle on them, the barns, etc. are all disappearing. To see chickens in a barnyard is rare now. Oh, the memories I have of my uncles farms and all the fun we had- chasing pigs, scaring chickens, being scared by cattle and sows when we were being naughty and got "caught" by them. We were lucky nothing bad ever happened. I hope someday to capture these scenes with the mastery (is that a word?) they deserve.

Ciao Carol, what a lovely landscape. Your blog is always relaxing and beautiful, when I read your sweet posts and watch at the miniatures, with this relaxing music, after I happy.
PS: compliments for using the word memento :)

Thanks Italo- that's what I'm aiming for- a nice peaceful moment for people to sit back and enjoy a bit of art and maybe a cup of coffee. :-)

Very pretty picture. I love the road going down into the valley. Your aunt will love it.

Thank you Jeanne. I hope she does! This was changed somewhat from the actual scene- a couple of buildings taken out, a different barn added, the valley road changed, etc. The funny thing was-when I finished it looked more like the "typical" farm than the actual scene had in the photo!

Carol, you can't say you don't do landscapes anymore! This is really beautiful and you've captured a moment in time. Your Aunt is gonna love it!

Oh, thank you so much Barbara- I sure hope so. I love farm country-it is in my heart.
